Art and Words from Gaza is a pilot zine series and fundraising project featuring young artists living in Gaza organized by Hussain Al-Jerjawi and Mayar Nateel, in collaboration with Toronto-based artists, Jana Ghalayini, and Karina Iskandarsjah.
Due to Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza, students face school closures, food insecurity and skyrocketing living costs. This publication aims to develop a sustained network of support from Toronto to Gaza through ongoing mentorship and opportunities to learn, work, and create art.
PRE-ORDER YOUR COPY of this limited edition 3-color risograph-printed zine for CAD$25 online, or buy one at the launch event. 100% of proceeds from this fundraiser will be directed to the two featured artists to cover inflated living costs for themselves and their family members.

Bios:
Hussain Al-Jerjawi is an 18-year-old artist living in Gaza who dreams of graduating high school and becoming a professional artist. He is passionate about sharing his love for drawing, painting and photography - he has hosted multiple art workshops with youth, even during ongoing genocide and displacement.
Mayar Nateel, 23 years old, is a writer living in Gaza. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities during the war. Mayar was displaced from her home on the very first day of the war, leaving behind her dream of signing her first book, now buried under the rubble. However, her passion and dreams did not falter, even amidst the genocide. She continues to write, not only her own story during the war but also the stories of all the people around her.
