Artist Material Fund + Clothing Swap

Saturday, August 2 + Sunday, August 3, 2025
Gallery TPW
10AM-4PM

Artist Material Fund (AMF) is a material relocation service that diverts useable waste from the arts and culture sector and provides it to the public for free.

Operating in Southern Ontario, AMF’s goal is to revolutionize the way galleries and museums handle waste. Rooted in the principles of a shared economy, AMF is a free recycling service which connects surplus materials from cultural organizations to individuals in need of resources. It is an anti-consumerist, anti-capitalist endeavour challenging the disposability of valuable material. AMF offers a viable alternative to the ecological irresponsibility of exhibition-making while acknowledging the fiscal precarity of artmaking. By redirecting “trash” back into the hands of the public, it not only bypasses the landfill, but creates opportunities for creativity, sustainability, and community education.

We are open to everyone, and the rules are simple:
First-come, first-served.
Take as much as you want.
Take only what you need.

Gallery TPW will also be hosting a Clothing Swap where you can refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime! Bring your gently used clothes, shoes, and accessories to exchange with others. It’s a great way to reduce textile waste, combat fat fashion, and discover new styles. All genders, sizes, and styles are welcome. Unclaimed items will be donated to local charities.

The AMF is brought to you in partnership with the Art Gallery of Burlington and a team of artists, educators, galleries and museums across the GTHA.
