Artist Statement:

This image came about as the result of an infatuation with 18th and 19th century Venetian glassware. These wildly ornate period glasses were so finely wrought, the vessels themselves no longer serve any functional purpose. Often, they are in a state of becoming something else entirely—a dragon, dolphin, flower or bird. I wanted to double down on this gesture of being in a state of "becoming" by re-creating the glasses out of food, the very substance they would normally contain. Can the body and substance become the ornament itself?
