The Composed series was inspired by Jane Austin’s Sense and Sensibility, wherein the character’s sorrows and joys “could have no moderation”. For this series, Mak photographed writers, actors, visual artists and other individuals. Working in the darkroom with film negatives, she painted and superimposed a layer of painted lines and motifs that alludes to artistic sensibility.
